New Boiler Cost UK 2026
Combi, system and regular boiler costs including supply, installation and what affects the price.
Replacing a boiler is one of those jobs nobody looks forward to, but when your old boiler starts breaking down, the cost of repairs quickly outweighs the cost of replacement. A new boiler also improves your energy efficiency, which means lower gas bills every month.

Combi vs system vs regular
Combi boilers are the most popular choice in the UK, fitted in around 70% of homes. They heat water on demand and do not need a separate hot water cylinder or cold water tank. They are best for small to medium homes with one bathroom. System boilers store hot water in a cylinder, making them better for homes with multiple bathrooms where hot water demand is high. Regular (conventional) boilers are the oldest type and are being gradually replaced, but are still common in older UK properties.
What affects installation cost
A like-for-like swap (same boiler type, same location) is the cheapest option. Converting from a regular boiler to a combi involves removing the hot water cylinder and cold water tanks, and re-routing pipework, which adds £800 to £1,500 to the cost. Moving a boiler to a different room involves extending gas, water and flue pipes, which adds £500 to £1,500.
All gas boiler work in the UK must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. This is a legal requirement, not optional. Gas Safe engineers typically charge £280 to £350 per day, or quote a fixed price for the complete installation.
Popular boiler brands and prices
Worcester Bosch is the most recommended brand by UK Gas Safe engineers, with combi boilers starting from around £900 supply only. Vaillant is another popular premium choice at similar prices. For budget-conscious buyers, Ideal and Baxi offer solid mid-range options starting from £600 to £800 supply only. Warranty periods range from 5 years on budget models to 12 years on premium Worcester and Vaillant units.
